DYNAMIC RANGE
ALEXA utilizes a full 35mm frame CMOS sensor, an optical low-pass filter, a powerful imaging hardware engine and advanced image processing algorithms:
- 800 El base sensitivity for images on night shoots and in low-level light conditions
- 13.5 stops of latitude for capturing detail
- 3.5K pixel count for optimum oversampling for HD Video & 2K DI
- Natural light rendition for super-sharp, alias-free, vibrant pictures
- The most film-like color reproduction of any digital motion picture camera
- Very low signal-to-noise guarantees flawless results
LENSES
Alura Zooms: A collaboration between ARRI and Fujinon has resulted in the design of a pair of optically advanced PL mount cine zoom lenses. The T26 Alura zooms cover focal ranges of 18 - 80mm and 45 - 250mm. Together they form a complete compact lens system that delivers high-quality images.
Carl Zeiss Ultra Primes: The Arri / Zeiss Ultra Primes have the widest focal range of any prime set available and are designed to cover every cinematic need. The T1.9 Ultra Primes cover focal ranges of 16, 24, 32, 50 & 85mm.
WORKFLOW
ALEXA takes the revolutionary step of recording Apple ProRes encoded images onto on-board SxS memory cards. These files can be edited immediately thus speeding-up the production process. High-speed electronics allow ALEXA to record 15 minutes of Apple ProRes 4444 or 20 minutes of Apple ProRes 422 onto its 32GB memory cards that slot directly into the camera. Footage from ALEXA can be transferred directly into editing software in full-resolution, faster than real-time.
